The Gardening Chronicles – May 1st 2020

There’s nothing crazy going on in the garden today. I was able to harvest a lot of herbs, kale and spinach.

The basil is growing and beginning to flower. This is the first time I’ve ever seen basil flowers, they smell amazing.

Tiny jalapeno sprouts have popped up, which is surprising because I thought they had withered away due to lack of sunlight. They have been shaded by the yellow squash leaves so I wasn’t sure if they would take. I will need to thin them out soon and put them in pots.

My mom gifted me a couple of serving trays as an early Mother’s Day gift and they are perfect for harvesting. Plus they look super cute.

I took some time today to just sit and admire our little garden. The herb garden especially caught my eye today. It’s beautiful and green, thriving and growing.

I’m proud of myself.

I took a video of the spinach harvesting today – I hope I’m harvesting it properly, pretty sure I am but if you have suggestions, please feel free to share.
